By chance (because I had this mistake in my own commit) I noticed
that there are a bunch of duplicated works like "the the" in the
code and man-pages.
This commit fixes them and some similar issues with "and and" etc.
The network generator currently supports many of the options described
by dracut.cmdline(7), but not everything.
This commit adds support for the BOOTIF= option (and the related
rd.bootif= option) used in PXE setups.
This is implemented by treating BOOTIF as a special name/placeholder
when used as an interface name, and expecting a MAC address to be set in
the BOOTIF= parameter. The resulting .network file then uses MACAddress=
in the [Match] section, instead of Name=.
Most of our kernel cmdline options use underscores as word separators in
kernel cmdline options, but there were some exceptions. Let's fix those,
and also use underscores.
Since our /proc/cmdline parsers don't distinguish between the two
characters anyway this should not break anything, but makes sure our own
codebase (and in particular docs and log messages) are internally
consistent.
To me this is the last major basic functionality that couldn't be
configured via credentials: the network.
We do not invent any new format for this, but simply copy relevant creds
1:1 into /run/systemd/network/ to open up the full functionality of
networkd to VM hosts.
As I noticed a lot of missing information when trying to implement checking
for missing info. I reimplemented the version information script to be more
robust, and here is the result.
Follow up to ec07c3c80b
This tries to add information about when each option was added. It goes
back to version 183.
The version info is included from a separate file to allow generating it,
which would allow more control on the formatting of the final output.
