This permits configuration of additional "delegates" which ensure that
lookups for certain DNS zones are routed to specific sets of DNS
servers, in addition to the routes we create for each network interface.
For now, this allows only static configuration, but eventually we should
open this up to IPC.

Instead of using run-clang-tidy.py with its own scheduling, let's
just gather a list of source files ourselves and then use that to
add a unit test for each source file that runs clang-tidy on the
source file.
We also add a bit of logic to run clang-tidy on most header files
as well for extra coverage. This uncovered various header files that
were not standalone so this commit also includes fixes to make sure
the clang-tidy tests are all green.
We can also use this in a later commit to run clang-include-cleaner
on each source file in the same way.
We're planning to do code generation based on the systemd varlink
APIs. To simplify this, let's expose the IDL parser, so we can use
it to do code generation instead of having to write our own IDL
parser.
Instead of recalculating the length of the string again after
reading it, let's make sd_netlink_message_read_string() return the
length of the string that we then use to check if the last character
is a dot or not.
This allows us to get rid of the string-util.h include in #37344.
On OBS the build VM is heavily locked down, with network
disabled in various ways in the custom kernel, to isolate the
build, including disabling CONFIG_UNIX_DIAG.

We soon want to add for sock_diag(7) netlink sockets. Those reuse the
same message type codes for request and response but with different
message formats. Hence we need to look at NLM_F_REQUEST to determine
which message policy to apply. Hence it is essential to know the flags
parameters right away when creating a message, since we cannot do early
validation otherwise.
This only adds support for setting the flags value right at the moment
of creation of the message object, it does not otherwise add
sock_diag(7) support, that is added in a later message.
This also corrects the flag for synthetic NLMSG_ERROR messages which
should not have the NLM_F_REQUEST flag set (since they are responses,
not requests).
meson by default adds the current source and build directory as include
directories. Because we structure our meson code by gathering a giant dict
of everything we want to do and then doing all the actual target generation
in the top level meson.build, this behavior does not make sense at all because
we end up adding the top level repository directory as an include directory
which is never what we want.
At the same time, let's also make sure the top level directory of the build
directory is not an include directory, by moving the version.h generation
into the src/version subdirectory and then adding the src/version subdirectory
of the build directory as an include directory instead of the top level
repository directory.
Making this change means that language servers such as clangd can't get
confused when they automatically insert an #include line and insert
"#include "src/basic/fs-util.h" instead of "#include "fs-util.h".
Instead of unconditionally including sys/param.h in
macro-fundamental.h which itself includes a bunch of other unnecessary
headers, let's override it with an empty file to avoid it from overriding
our MAX() macro. We can't make including it an error as it's included (
for seemingly no good reason) by <resolv.h>.
As a test, it just increases our code coverage in a fake way.
When run manually, it can be used to conveniently print what logind
thinks about various processes:
$ build/test-sd-login
sd_pid_get_session(0) → No data available
sd_pid_get_unit(0) → user@1000.service
sd_pid_get_user_unit(0) → app-ghostty-transient-5088.scope
sd_pid_get_machine_name(0) → No such file or directory
sd_pid_get_slice(0) → user-1000.slice
sd_pid_get_user_slice(0) → app.slice
sd_pid_get_owner_uid(0) → 1000
sd_pid_get_cgroup(0) → /user.slice/user-1000.slice/user@1000.service/app.slice/app-ghostty-transient-5088.scope/surfaces/556FAF50BA40.scope
$ build/test-sd-login cgroup 1
sd_pid_get_cgroup(1) → /init.scope
abs() requires including the entirety of stdlib.h just for a single
trivial function. Let's introduce the ABS() macro and use it in header
files instead so we can get rid of stdlib.h transitive includes in header
files in a later commit.
Let's move some more implementation logic into functions. We keep
the logic that requires the macro in the macro and move the rest into
functions.
While we're at it, let's also make the parameter declarations of
all the string table macros less clausthrophobic.
When compiling the source files, we know static is going to be available
so there's no need to use the macro from _sd-common.h and we can just use
static instead.
This is only a safety net for runaway programs: it puts a limit on
outgoing messages, i.e. not on resources accessible directly from
outside, but only on resources taken by trusted local code.
meson's target has a few issues:
- Runs on all source files regardless if they're included in the
build or not
- Doesn't have any dependencies on generated sources which means we
have to do a full build first before we can run clang-tidy
- Doesn't allow us to pass any extra arguments
To work around these, let's define our own clang-tidy target instead
using llvm's run-clang-tidy script. Alongside the clang-tidy target,
let's start keeping track of all generated sources which we make the
clang-tidy target depend on. We also add a new target which will only
generate source files which is useful for setting up the source tree
for running code analysis against it.
This code seems to not be used anywhere at all, so let's drop it.
