Let's not leak details from src/shared and src/libsystemd into
src/basic, even though you can't actually do anything useful with
just forward declarations from src/shared.
The sd-forward.h header is put in src/libsystemd/sd-common as we
don't have a directory for shared internal headers for libsystemd
yet.
Let's also rename forward.h to basic-forward.h to keep things
self-explanatory.
struct statx in glibc header was introduced in glibc-2.28
(fd70af45528d59a00eb3190ef6706cb299488fcd), but at that time,
sys/stat.h conflicts with linux/stat.h. Since glibc-2.30
(5dad6ffbb2b76215cfcd38c3001778536ada8e8a), sys/stat.h includes
linux/stat.h if exists.
Since now our baseline of glibc is 2.31. Hence, we can drop workarounds
for struct statx by importing linux/stat.h from newer kernel (v6.14-rc4).
This is a follow-up for 945a8210c7 and
makes the st_dev check generic, so that we can reuse it some other
places. It also incorporates the non-NULL check now, to be a
comprehensive one-stop solution.
The helper is static inline so that compilers can optimize the redundant
checks away in case it is combined with other checks.
statx_timestamp is, for all intents and purposes, the same as a struct
timespec. So, we can trivially convert it and call timespec_load on it.
This commit adds helper functions that do just that.
Let's be more accurate about what this function does: it checks whether
the underlying reported inode is the same. Internally, this already uses
a better named stat_inode_same() call, hence let's similarly name the
wrapping function following the same logic.
Similar for files_same_at() and path_equal_or_same_files().
No code changes, just some renaming.
This is a follow-up for f470cb6d13 which in
turn is a follow-up for a068aceafb.
The latter started to honour hidden files when deciding whether a
directory is empty. The former reverted to the old behaviour to fix
issue #23220.
It introduced a bug though: when a directory contains a larger number of
hidden entries the getdents64() buffer will not suffice to read them,
since we just allocate three entries for it (which is definitely enough
if we just ignore the . + .. entries, but not ig we ignore more).
I think it's a bit confusing that dir_is_empty() can return true even if
rmdir() on the dir would return ENOTEMPTY. Hence, let's rework the
function to make it optional whether hidden files are ignored or not.
After all, I looking at the users of this function I am pretty sure in
more cases we want to honour hidden files.
No actual code changes, just splitting out of some dev_t handling
related calls from stat-util.[ch], they are quite a number already, and
deserve their own module now I think.
Also, try to settle on the name "devnum" as the name for the concept,
instead of "devno" or "dev" or "devid". "devnum" is the name exported in
udev APIs, hence probably best to stick to that. (this just renames a
few symbols to "devum", local variables are left untouched, to make the
patch not too invasive)
No actual code changes.
On my local system I linked up the ESP and XBOOTLDR partitions, and
ended up with duplicate entries being listed. Try hard to detect that
and only enumerate entries in the ESP if it turns out that both dirs
have the same dev_t.
This should detect both bind mounted and symlinked cases and should make
our list output less confusing.
This simplifies things quite a bit, and is reusable wherever we want to
use statx() later on. Not sure why I didn't do it like this right from
the beginning...
device_path_make_{major_minor|canonical) generate device node paths
given a mode_t and a dev_t. We have similar code all over the place,
let's unify this in one place. The former will generate a "/dev/char/"
or "/dev/block" path, and never go to disk. The latter then goes to disk
and resolves that path to the actual path of the device node.
device_path_parse_major_minor() reverses device_path_make_major_minor(),
also withozut going to disk.
We have similar code doing something like this at various places, let's
unify this in a single set of functions. This also allows us to teach
them special tricks, for example handling of the
/run/systemd/inaccessible/{blk|chr} device nodes, which we use for
masking device nodes, and which do not exist in /dev/char/* and
/dev/block/*
As it turns out glibc and the Linux kernel have different ideas about
the size of dev_t and how many bits exist for the major and the minor.
When validating major/minor numbers we should check against the kernel's
actual sizes, hence add macros for this.
These lines are generally out-of-date, incomplete and unnecessary. With
SPDX and git repository much more accurate and fine grained information
about licensing and authorship is available, hence let's drop the
per-file copyright notice. Of course, removing copyright lines of others
is problematic, hence this commit only removes my own lines and leaves
all others untouched. It might be nicer if sooner or later those could
go away too, making git the only and accurate source of authorship
information.
This part of the copyright blurb stems from the GPL use recommendations:
https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.en.html
The concept appears to originate in times where version control was per
file, instead of per tree, and was a way to glue the files together.
Ultimately, we nowadays don't live in that world anymore, and this
information is entirely useless anyway, as people are very welcome to
copy these files into any projects they like, and they shouldn't have to
change bits that are part of our copyright header for that.
hence, let's just get rid of this old cruft, and shorten our codebase a
bit.
