Lennart Poettering 85d7fb2247 veritysetup: optionally measure Verity once we activated it
As in the previous commit, also enable the measurement logic when
activating Verity via veritsetup rather than the dissection logic.

The logic stays close to the interface of cryptsetup for measuring the
volume key.

Yu Watanabe 23c82484e7 Bump required minimum version of cryptsetup to 2.4.0
Major distributions already have cryptsetup newer than 2.4.0.
Let's bump the minimal required version.

Note, cryptsetup 2.4.0 was released on 2021-08-18.

Yu Watanabe f8c33b1274 libcryptsetup: drop several unnecessary checks for existences of functions by libcryptsetyp
The functions crypt_set_metadata_size() and friends are supported since
libcryptsetup-2.0.

This also merges checks for functions used for supporting libcryptsetup
plugins with others.
Moreover, check existence of one more function (crypt_logf) that is used in
libcryptsetup plugins.

This commit cleans up the includes for all the small tools across
the tree.

A few cases of returning EXIT_SUCCESS are replaced with returning
0 to avoid including <stdlib.h>.

Let's move some logic from _DEFINE_MAIN_FUNCTION() and other places
in main-func.h into functions that we implement in main-func.c to
allow moving some included headers from the header to the .c file.

Lennart Poettering 96386bb5a7 veritysetup: when we fail to unlock a disk with the root hash signature logic, retry without
Currently, there's no nice way to get a key into the dm-verity kernel
keyring unless recompiling the kernel, or enabling SB or buying into
shim. Neither sounds particularly attractive.

hence provide a reasonable fallback: if unlocking with signed roothash
doesn#t work, just try without. maybe the kernel policy allows this,
maybe not. It's worth a try.

Lennart Poettering 45e3406e23 veritysetup: remove double escaping of data device + hash device spec
generator_write_veritysetup_service_section() already escapes the

Lennart Poettering deb60ef92e veritysetup: minor renaming of functions
create_device() and create_disk() so far did very similar things, but
the name didn't give a hint what the difference was.

Hence let's rename them to create_special_device() and
create_veritytab_device() to make this more understandabe, as one
creates /proc/cmdline specified roothash=/usrhash= devices, and the
other one devices for items listed in /etc/veritytab.

No code changes besides renaming.

Lennart Poettering ce49a479d2 {crypt|verity}setup: replace dep on systemd-tmpfiles-setup-dev.service by modprobe@loop.service
Both should have the same effect: the /dev/loop-control devices should
become available. systemd-tmpfiles-setup-dev.service creates the device
node "dry" based on modalias data, while modprobe@loop.service creates
it fully, because the module backing it is loaded properly. This should
shorten the deps chain a bit, simplify things and allows us to focus on
the stuff we actually need (i.e. the loopback infra) instead of all
entrypoints anyone might possibly need (i.e. the device nodes)

Lennart Poettering 5dd0214707 veritysetup-generator: only generate one set of deps on systemd-tmpfiles-setup-dev.service
If both the data and the hash device are a regular file we might create
two sets of deps on s-t-s-d.s, which is of course redundant. Shorten the
code to only generate this once.

No change in behaviour.

Lennart Poettering 953006dcb0 veritysetup-generator: use generic veritysetup writers at one more place
Let's use the common generator_write_veritysetup_unit_section(),
ggenerator_write_veritysetup_service_section(), generator_add_symlink()
implementation we already have at one more place.

This mostly generates the same unit, but for the first time hooks up
blockdev@dev-mapper-*.device for the device, which means things like
growfs on usr+root volumes will actually work now. (I mean, growfs
won#t, because verity devices are immutable after all, but things *like*
it that want to run between the device popping up and being mounted.)

Gaël PORTAY 21c60c76e1 veritysetup: add support for fec options
The verity fec_* parameters allows to use Forward Error Correction to
recover from corruption if hash verification fails.

This adds the options fec_device, fec_offset and fec_roots (sixth
argument) which are the equivalent of the options --fec-device,
--fec-offset and --fec-roots in the veritysetup world.
 - fec-device=FILE
 - fec-offset=BYTES
 - fec-roots=UINT64

See `veritysetup(8)` for more details.

Gaël PORTAY 0bbf7a842a veritysetup: add support for superblock and underlying options
The verity parameter no_superblock allows to format/open an hash device
without the superblock. However, the superblock data must be set to open
the data-device.

This adds the option superblocks (sixth argument) and all the underlying
options which are implied to set the superblock manually if hash device
has no superblock:

 - superblock=BOOL
 - format=NUMBER (hash version type, 0 for original ChromeOS, 1 for
   modern)
 - data-block-size=BYTES (max page-size, multiple of 512)
 - hash-block-size=BYTES (max page-size, multiple of 512)
 - data-blocks=BLOCKS (size of data-device in blocks)
 - salt=HEXSTR (salt used at format, max 256 bytes)
 - uuid=UUID
 - hash=STR (algorithm name for dm-verity used at format, default is
   sha256)

See `veritysetup(8)` for more details.

Gaël PORTAY 14de7ef914 veritysetup: add support for hash-offset option
The verity parameter hash_area_offset allows to locate the superblock in
the hash device. It can be used to have a single device which contains
both data and hashes.

This adds the option hash-offset=BYTES (sixth argument) which is the
equivalent of the option --hash-offset in the veritysetup world.

See `veritysetup(8)` for more details.

Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek 2fe8749de7 veritysetup: fix parsing of root-hash-signature= option
The function was named confusingly and we managed to confused ourselves. The
parameter was assigned incorrectly and then reassigned correctly in the caller.
Let's simplify the whole thing by just saving the optarg param.

I considered moving the unhexmemming and/or reading of the file to the parse
function, but decided against it. I think it's nicer to parse all options
before opening external files.

Lennart Poettering b74163607b sd128: export sd_id128_to_uuid_string()
We expose various other forms of UUID helpers already, i.e.
SD_ID128_UUID_FORMAT_STR and SD_ID128_MAKE_UUID_STR(), and we parse
UUIDs, hence add a high-level helper for formatting UUIDs too.

This doesn't add any new code, it just moves some helpers
id128-util.[ch] → sd-id128.[ch], to make them public.

Daan De Meyer bc556335b1 tree-wide: Drop custom formatting for print() help messages
I think this formatting was originally used because it simplified
adding new options to the help messages. However, these days, most
tools their help message end with "\nSee the %s for details.\n" so
the final line almost never has to be edited which eliminates the
benefit of the custom formatting used for printf() help messages.
Let's make things more consistent and use the same formatting for
printf() help messages that we use everywhere else.
