This handling with tmpfiles was dropped in
29444df23b. So let's stop the build system
to create that directory. Actually it is create by the service just
fine, including correct access mode.
I got infos from product_name:
$ cat /sys/class/dmi/id/product_name
X+ Piccolo
Turns out the modalias has a little difference:
$ cat /sys/class/dmi/id/modalias
dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInternational,LLC.:bvr5.27:bd09/10/2025:br5.27:svnX-Plus.tech:pnX+Piccolo:pvrDefaultstring:rvnX-Plus:rnXPLUS-SERIES81x-DEV:rvrDefaultstring:cvnDefaultstring:ct10:cvrDefaultstring:skuSeries81x:pfaPiccoloSeries:
So let's remove the extra space. Crossing fingers... 🤞
Fixes: 033be1a41b
The options `--booted` is compared with the command `systemctl
is-system-running`, but the return values have differnt meanings and it
is not a drop-in.
We had a downstream discussion on what `systemctl reload-or-restart
--marked` does, until upstream chimed in and pointed on very special
behavior for that combination. 😜
The second references the first, but not vice versa. Let's fix this.
If the executable path is prefixed with "-", an exit code of the command
normally considered a failure (i.e. non-zero exit status or abnormal exit
due to signal) is recorded, but has no further effect and is considered
equivalent to success.
Let's honor this with `systemctl status`, and color ignored exit status
in yellow, not red.
Giving --echo to systemd-ask-password allows to echo the user input.
There's nothing secret, so do not show a lock and key emoji by default.
The behavior can be controlled with --emoji=yes|no|auto. The default is
auto, which defaults to yes, unless --echo is given.
With 8f20232fcb systemd-localed supports
generating locales when required. This fails if the locale directory is
read-only, so make it writable.
Closes#19138
Giving --echo to systemd-ask-password allows to echo the user input instead
of masking it. This is useful when querying for usernames or similar.
Showing "(press TAB for no echo)" does not make sense there, so do not.
Note that pressing TAB or ESC still disables echo.
By default both processes, systemd-inhibit and the forked one, receive
the signals. Pressing Ctrl+C on the keyboard results in SIGINT being
sent to the processes, followed by SIGTERM being sent to the forked
process when systemd-inhibit exits. This can cause trouble when the
forked process does not clean up properly but exit immediately.
Instead make systemd-inhibit ignore SIGINT, leaving it to the forked
process to clean up and exit.
Commit 5248e7e1f1
(resolved,nss-myhostname: use _gateway for the gateway) changed how the
gateway is resolved. Reflect the change in documentation.
Close#7084.
Commit 0e8856d2 (assemble multidevice btrfs volumes without external
tools (#6607)) introduced a call to udevadm. That lives in @rootbindir@,
not @rootlibexecdir@. So fix the path.
Commit 74dd6b515f (core: run each system
service with a fresh session keyring) broke adding keys to user keyring.
Added keys could not be accessed with error message:
keyctl_read_alloc: Permission denied
So link the user keyring to our session keyring.
This breaks again, this time for setups where Qemu is not reported via DMI for whatever
reason. So swap order of cpuid and dmi again, but properly detect oracle.
See issue #5318.
In commit 050e65a we swapped order of detect_vm_{cpuid,dmi}(). That
fixed Virtualbox but broke qemu with kvm, which is expected to return
'kvm'. So check for qemu/kvm first, then DMI, CPUID last.
This fixes#5318.

This adds a new systemd fstab option x-systemd.mount-timeout. The option
adds a timeout value that specifies how long systemd waits for the mount
command to finish. It allows to mount huge btrfs volumes without issues.
This is equivalent to adding option TimeoutSec= to [Mount] section in a
mount unit file.
fixes#4055
The file /usr/lib/systemd/resolv.conf can be stale, it does not tell us
whether or not systemd-resolved is running or not.
So check for /run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf as well, which is created
at runtime and hence is a better indication.
We have to pass addresses of changes and n_changes to
bus_deserialize_and_dump_unit_file_changes(). Otherwise we are hit by
missing information (subsequent calls to unit_file_changes_add() to
not add anything).
Also prevent null pointer dereference in
bus_deserialize_and_dump_unit_file_changes() by asserting.
Fixes#3339
systemd-ask-password can store passwords in kernel keyring. However it
uses to print the passwords to standard output nevertheless. Depending
on where systemd-ask-password is called passwords may end on display
or in log, leaking sensitive information.
This allows to make systemd-ask-password quiet, effectively disabling
printing passwords to standard output.
Commit 5e5b137a (networkd: link - drop foreign config when configuring
link) introduced a regression where addresses (including 127.0.0.1) are
removed from loopback device.
Do not handle loopback device when removing foreign configs.

Virtualbox should be detected as 'oracle'. This used to work but broke
with commit:
commit 75f86906c5
Author: Lennart Poettering <lennart@poettering.net>
Date: Mon Sep 7 13:42:47 2015 +0200
basic: rework virtualization detection API
We swap detection for dmi and cpuid, this fixes Virtualbox with KVM.
Hopefully it does not break anything else.
Virtualbox 5.0 now supports kvm hypervisor. In this case cpuid
identidies as "kvm", which breaks units depending on
ConditionVirtualization=oracle.
So return "oracle" even with kvm hypervisor.
The example does not compile, it fails with:
error: passing argument 3 of ‘sd_journal_get_data’ from incompatible
pointer type
Cast to (const void **) to avoid this.
