For libsystemd's headers, the changes made depend on whether the
header is installed or not. For installed headers, the only change
made is that commonly included headers were moved to _sd-common.h.
For these headers, there should be no noticeable change in behavior
when including them. For non-installed headers, includes were replaced
with forward declarations where possible as usual.
Split out of #37344.
Instead of recalculating the length of the string again after
reading it, let's make sd_netlink_message_read_string() return the
length of the string that we then use to check if the last character
is a dot or not.
This allows us to get rid of the string-util.h include in #37344.
On OBS the build VM is heavily locked down, with network
disabled in various ways in the custom kernel, to isolate the
build, including disabling CONFIG_UNIX_DIAG.

We soon want to add for sock_diag(7) netlink sockets. Those reuse the
same message type codes for request and response but with different
message formats. Hence we need to look at NLM_F_REQUEST to determine
which message policy to apply. Hence it is essential to know the flags
parameters right away when creating a message, since we cannot do early
validation otherwise.
This only adds support for setting the flags value right at the moment
of creation of the message object, it does not otherwise add
sock_diag(7) support, that is added in a later message.
This also corrects the flag for synthetic NLMSG_ERROR messages which
should not have the NLM_F_REQUEST flag set (since they are responses,
not requests).
Now that the necessary functions from log.h have been moved to macro.h,
we can stop including log.h in macro.h. This requires modifying source
files all over the tree to include log.h instead.
When we receive a netlink messages from userspace we need to drop it
from the queue. Hence we need call recvmsg() on the socket for it. We do
this with a zero-size socket read() buffer, so that the message would be
truncated when copied to userspace, and we do not have to allocate any
memory for it, but it's still dropped.
This was broken in ad501930d7, which
turned datagram truncation into an error (rightfully so I think – for
the common case). That broke this code here, because here we *expect*
truncation, and need to handle it gracefully.
Hence simply check for the two error codes for truncated payload or
cdata, and eat it up.
This reverts commit bf478dcffb.
I think we should avoid allocating memory needlessly just to free it
again, in particular if this can be triggered by some rogue peer.
Now our baseline on the kernel is v5.4.
Let's unconditionally use the IFA_FLAGS attribute, and drop the getter
and setter for the deprecated header element.

Add support for creating HSR/PRP interfaces. HSR (High-availability Seamless
Redundancy) and PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol) are two protocols that
provide seamless failover against failure of any single network component. They
are both implemented by the "hsr" kernel driver.
Since linux commit a35ec8e38cdd1766f29924ca391a01de20163931 ("bridge:
Add MAC Authentication Bypass (MAB) support"), included since v6.2, it
is possible to enable MAC Authentication Bypass for bridge ports. In
this mode the locked port learns again, but the learned fdb entries are
locked, allowing user space to unlock hosts based seen MAC addresses.
This requires learning to be enabled on the port, and link-local
learning disabled for the bridge.
Add support to systemd-network for setting the new attribute for bridge
ports.
Since linux commit a21d9a670d81103db7f788de1a4a4a6e4b891a0b ("net:
bridge: Add support for bridge port in locked mode"), included since
v5.18, it is possible to set bridge ports to locked.
Locked ports do not learn automatically, and discard any traffic from
unknown source MACs. To allow traffic, the userspace authenticator is
expected to create fdb entries for authenticated hosts.
Add support to systemd-network for setting the new attribute for bridge
ports.
If an ifindex is specified, we are modifying the existing interface.
Hence, these flags should not be set. Otherwise, the request will be
refused with -EEXIST.
- use uint8_t, uint16_t, and so on, rather than unsigned char, unsigned
short, and so on, respectively,
- rename output parameters to ret or ret_xyz,
- add several missing assertions.
Currently, if for example a traffic control object already exist, networkd
will silently do nothing, even if the settings in the network file for the
traffic control object have changed. Let's instead replace the object if it
already exists so that new settings from the network file are applied as
expected.
Fixes#31226
Since Linux commit ddd1ad68826d ("net: bridge: Add netlink knobs for number
/ max learned FDB entries") [1] it is possible to limit to number of
dynamically learned fdb entries per bridge.
Add support to the systemd networkctl for the netlink bridge attributes
IFLA_BR_FDB_MAX_LEARNED and IFLA_BR_FDB_N_LEARNED.

The linux/ headers include linux/libc-compat.h that makes sure the
linux/ headers won't redeclare symbols already declared by net/if.h, but
glibc's net/if.h doesn't do that, so if the include order is reversed
we'll end up with a bunch of errors about redeclared stuff:

This also drops remaining workarounds from the last time this issue was
brought up (6f270e6bd8) since they shouldn't be needed anymore if the
order of the includes is the "correct" one. I also added a comment to
each affected include when this is inevitably encountered again in the
future.

Allow to set the broadcast queueing threshold
on macvlan devices. This controls which multicast packets will be
processed in a workqueue instead of inline.
Allows to configure bond arp_missed_max is the maximum number of arp_interval monitor cycle

down.
